Rocky Mountains Ride – Motorcycle Tour

Harald and Karyn have lived in Denver for over thirty years; who else could be better tour guides?

We must admit that out of all our USA tours, the “Rocky Mountains Ride” is our favorite motorcycle tour. Even our guides experience new adventures on every ride. Words cannot describe the scenery, wonder and routes on this ride. Bison and other wild animals are our companions throughout our journey. Our tour takes us from Denver to the Black Hills with a visit to Mount Rushmore and the Sturgis/Deadwood area. We will learn the history about the American Indians, the “First Nation” of North America and Buffalo Bill as we continue on through Yellowstone National Park and onto Salt Lake City. An awe-inspiring ride through Rocky Mountain National Park will lead us back to Denver.

Here is what awaits you

Day 1: Denver, Colorado

Arrive in Denver and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Denver

Relax in the morning and then pick up the motorcycles in the afternoon.

Day 3: Denver – Scottsbluff

An impressive ride through grasslands as far as the eye can see.

Day 4: Custer National Park – Mount Rushmore – Crazy Horse – Sturgis – Deadwood

Today we will begin our ride through the Rockies. You will experience your first encounter with bison as we ride through the “Wild-life Loop” in Custer National Park. Mount Rushmore will be our next goal for today. Here you will see four Presidents sculpted into granite rock; a truly awesome sight to behold. From there we will continue on the “Needles Highway” which will lead us to the Crazy Horse Monument and then onto Sturgis; the Mecca for Harley-Davidson riders. We will overnight in Deadwood….where our tour guides will tell a few tales.

Day 5: Devil’s Tower – Buffalo

Today we will stand at the foot of Devil’s Tower; a holy place for the American Indian.

Day 6: Sheridan – Cody

Our next city, Cody, could also be called “Buffalo Bill City.” The Buffalo Bill Center of the West houses five world class museums where you can explore the history, cultures and art of the American West.

Day 7: Cody – Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is a must-see when touring national parks in the USA because of its awe-inspiring beauty. Prepare yourself for Nature in its purest form. We will stay overnight just outside the park entrance.

Day 8: Yellowstone National Park

We will spend an entire day here making several stops along the way so we can walk around, take photos and experience the wonder of Yellowstone.

Day 9: Grand Teton – Jackson Hole

We will leave Yellowstone and head South where we will behold one of the most pristine ecosystems of the USA; the Grand Tetons. We will continue onto our final destination for today, Jackson Hole. Its nick-name is the “Kitzbuhel” of the Rocky Mountains. We must stop at the Million Dollar Saloon for a beer!

Day 10: Jackson Hole – Salt Lake City

A very pleasant ride will bring us the capitol of the Mormon People: Salt Lake City. It is well known for its University, the Olympics and as an example of a very progressive and clean city. Hopefully we will attend a performance of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir if they are in residence.

Day 11: Salt Lake City – Vernal

We will leave Salt Lake City and enjoy traveling on roads that will challenge your motorcycle skills. Along the way we will see Flaming Gorge.

Day 12: Vernal – Steamboat Springs

You will feel like we are in the Alps as we approach Steamboat Springs. The USA ski team originated here. Today, Steamboat is known for its World Cup Ski events, beautiful powder and fantastic “tree” skiing. Steamboat is a laid-back community with great apres-ski restaurants and local artisans.

Day 13: Steamboat – Rocky Mountain National Park – Denver

We have almost come full circle as we approach Denver. On the way we will ride through the Rocky Mountain National Park, that some say is the “Stilfser Joch of the USA.” We could encounter some snow banks along the roadside even in the month of August. Not to worry; the streets are clear of snow. As a conclusion to our amazing motorcycle tour, our last evening in Denver will be a fun dinner celebration and reflection upon the variety of experiences that we shared.
