We will take the time to answer your questions and will share our plans for the trip
DAY 2 – History and Castles – Lochgilphead
We will head west to our overnight destination in the mountains north of Glasgow. Along the way we will see the Wallace Monument and travel through the area of the Battle of Stirling Bridge; site of one of William Wallace’s greatest victories. We stop at a grand castle once used in the PBS series Downton Abbey. We spend the night overlooking a beautiful bay and surrounded by canals.
DAY 3 – Ocean, Mountains – Fort William
Head North into the heart of the highest mountains in the UK. We ride through the wild and open country of the Glencoe region. The beauty of this area holds a dark and infamous history as the story of the McDonald Massacre is still told hundreds of years past this horrible event. Weaving our way over mountains and alongside Lochs makes this a day impossible to forget. We sleep with highest peak in the the UK. Ben Nevis, behind us and marvel at the unique day of travel just completed
DAY 4 – Isle of Skye Leaving the Mountains – Portree Isle of Skye
We will leave the mountains and head to the sea, weaving our way to the Isle of Skye as our evening’s destination. This day will take us through the countryside and down quiet lanes. We’ll stop at the famous Eilean Donan Castle and several other ancient spots where we will officially enter The Highlands. The Isle of Skye is our destination for the night.
DAY 5 – Nessie Day – Inverness
We will head to, quite possibly, the most famous body of water on earth …Loch Ness. We’ll visit an ancient castle on the shores of Loch Ness and search the waters for any ‘unusual’ activity. We will spend the evening in the picturesque city of Inverness and enjoy one of the most beautiful towns in Scotland.
DAY 6 – Highlands – Thurso
We will head deep into the Highlands today and ride the beautiful NC 500 Highway. This road is the Scottish ‘Route 66’ and is quickly becoming THE road to ride in Scotland. Today we enjoy a day of great riding and sight seeing and head to the North Coast and the wild Highlands.
Day 7– North Sea – Aberlour
We begin the day with a stop at John ‘O Groats, famously referred to as “The Start of Great Britain.” As we leave the jagged Northeastern coastline we wander south into the heart of Whisky (no E please) country which transforms in lush forests and rich farmlands that produce “The Water of Life.“ We will spend the night in the heart of the Whisky region.
